Homemade Turkish Chicken Wrap

If you’re hungry at noon or during the day and can’t decide what to eat, wrap might be a good choice. In this Turkish wrap recipe, I used chicken meat. For wraps, you can use any store bought tortilla wraps. I prefferred “Lavash”, which is a Turkish thin tortilla. Since my tortillas are thin, I wrapped them in 2 layers. You will probably find the thick type in local markets, so it is enough to use one layer. Actually, it cannot be said that chicken wraps are exactly a Turkish food. But it is made in many restaurants in Turkey and is preferred by people.

Tortilla and Ingredients

Everyone has a unique touch for the Turkish wrap recipe. Chicken wrap can be eaten with garlic, tomato or hot sauce. My favorite is garlic sauce or tomato sauce, but in this recipe I only used tomato sauce. My trick for this recipe is to marinate the chicken well in the oven bag and cook it in the same bag. Well marinated chicken will cook in this bag without losing its water and aroma. While cooking, you can also put some potatoes out of the bag. You can make it more delicious by putting ingredients such as potatoes, lettuce, pickles and tomatoes in the wrap. This wrap will have a taste like Turkish doner kebab and will be much better than what you eat in restaurants.

Oven-baked marinated chickens wrapped in tortilla with vegetables and tomato sauce. An adorable choice for lunch meals. These turkish wraps will be the best wraps you have eaten!

  • Oven bag

To be added into the oven bag

  • 500 grams chicken thigh, boneless, skinless, diced
  • 1 tablespoon yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sunflower oil
  • 1 teaspoon sweet paprika powder
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon dried thyme

Tomato Sauce

  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 2 teaspoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon sunflower oil
  • ½ cup water
  • Pinch of salt

Wrap Ingredients

  • 1 packet tortilla wraps
  • 200 grams french fries, optional
  • 4 pickled cucumbers, julienned
  • 2 medium tomatoes, sliced
  • Some lettuce


  • Chop chicken thighs into medium sized cubes. Remove excess fat and cartilage parts.

  • Combine all the ingredients in the first section, put all into an oven bag. You can add extra spices you want (a little curry, mediterranean seasoning and garlic powder can go well).

  • Rub the bag with your hands and make sure the ingredients mixed well. Tie the bag tightly.
  • Optionally, leave the bag to marinate in the refrigerator. I recommend you leave it for at least 30 minutes and at most 6 hours.
  • During the marination process, you can prepare french fries and other ingredients to be added.
  • Remove the bag from the refrigerator, place it on a tray on the middle shelf of the 180 degree heated oven. Drill a few holes with a knife on top.
  • Cook the chickens in your oven's turbo fan mode for about 45 minutes, checking them occasionally.

  • While baking, put the oil and butter in a sauce pan to prepare your tomato sauce. Add the tomato paste when it melts. When it starts bubbling, add half a glass of water and cook for 2-3 minutes. If necessary, add more or less water to obtain a medium-density sauce.

  • After the chickens are cooked, remove them on a plate and open the bag. Put the tortilla on the table, place chickens, tomatoes, pickles, potatoes and lettuce. Put some sauce on it. Fold the bottom and wrap tightly.

  • If you want the outside to be crispy and hot, you can keep it in the toaster for 10 minutes.
  • Serve by slicing or as a whole. Afiyet olsun!


  • One pickled cucumber, half tomato and one leaf lettuce are enough for a wrap.
  • Although it seems difficult to make, you will have an enormous meal without much effort. It is good to be patient 🙂
  • With this recipe, you can make 4-5 wraps. Also you can scale the recipe for smaller or larger portions.
  • It goes well with cold and carbonated drinks.
